From 10th to 16th of June 2025 our class (4B) and the parallel class 4A went on a language trip to Malta with out teachers Ms Resch, Mr Tezarek, Ms Frühwirth and Mr Hager. This trip was very special because it was the last trip with our classmates.
Malta is a beautiful island situated in the Mediterranean Sea. Our hostel and language school were located in Sliema, a nice costal city built in the 20th century. On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, we spent 4 hours each morning at the language school, where we improved our English skills. We learned about Malta’s culture, food, music, but also practised grammar and expanded our range of vocabulary. The teachers there were nice and professional.
Apart from English classes, we did a lot of fun stuff, like going swimming. We visited some beautiful beaches like Mellieha Bay, Golden Bay and two other smaller beaches. The water was pretty warm and we all had lots of fun. We also visited a rocky, flat stone beach next to our hotel called Exiles Bay. Unfortunately, we weren’t allowed to swim there but still found some cool activities, like playing frisbee or catching some small crabs.
About midway through the trip, we went to a disco at the rooftop bar of our language school. It even had a DJ! At the beginning only our teachers danced but after half an hour everybody was on the dancefloor and for the next 2-3 hours we just danced and had fun. The owner of the bar told us we were the best crowd they ever had. This was one of our favourite evenings! Another fun activity was Bowling at St. Julian’s, which is a part of Sliema that looks a bit like Mini-Las Vegas. The highlight there was probably the strike from Mr. Tezarek 😀 We supported each other, and we all had lots of fun!
Ms Resch also organised some guides to tour us around old cities like Rabat, Mdina and Valetta. The guides told us about their culture and history. We especially enjoyed the free time to buy souvenirs and food.
On Sunday, our last day in Malta, we had the South of Malta Tour. We drove around in a bus while a guide told us some facts about the things we could see outside. For example, we learnt that the runway of the airport is 15% of the length of Malta and the whole island is smaller than Vienna. The bus did three stops. The first stop was at the Blue Grotto. We went on a small boat and looked at some really beautiful caves. The blue-turquoise water was crystal clear! Our next stop was a beautiful village in the south, which was celebrating the patron saint Lilly. There was a band playing loud music and they were shooting fireworks as well. Our final stop was the fishing village of Marsaxlokk. It was Sunday, which meant that they had an open-air market. They were selling lots of stuff, ranging from fish to clothes or even toys. We also went swimming there.
The food in the hotel was okay, but not bad. The overall food in Malta was good, especially the Maltese Pastizzi. It’s a kind of bread filled with cheese, chicken, or something sweet like pistachio cream – very tasty! The only problem was that we could not drink water from the tap, so we had to buy water in the supermarket – but luckily it was situated opposite the hostel, so we didn’t have to go far.
The weather was nice but very hot. The temperatures reached 33°C! If anyone forgot to apply sunscreen, then they would come back to the hostel with sunburns.
I wanted to give some special thanks to our KV Ms Resch for helping in the organisation of the trip and also to the teachers Mr. Tezarek, Ms Frühwirth and Mr Hager for coming with us!
All in all, it was the best school trip ever, and we thank Ms Resch for the trip and all the hard work.
